Which antivirus is better AVG or Avast? Is Avast free? Which firewall is better ZoneAlarm or Comodo?

Avast has much better detection rates then AVG. The free version of AVG has poor detection compared to the paid version. But Avast has the EXACT same detection capabilities as its paid version, just fewer "bells and whistles".

The newest version of Commodo is still a bit buggy, I hear, so go with ZA.

Avast! is a very bad Anti-Virus !

The best Anti-Virus for free is Avira AntiVir.

I haven't tried Avast but I heard more good comments on it than AVG. AVG has a free antivirus, and Avast is freeware.

As for the firewalls, definitely go for Comodo. ZoneAlarm now comes with the Ask toolbar, and that is NOT a good thing. http://securitygarden.blogspot.com/2007/...

Comodo firewall is free AND you can tell it's the genuine thing. Many SSL encrypted sites, rapidshare for one, is protected by Comodo. It also comes with a Defense+ so if there is currently suspicious files you can choose which ones to monitor and block. It even comes with a scanner and gives you the exactly file path of the possible malware. ZoneAlarm is packaging crapware, gives limited features, and slows down the PC way more than Comodo. They bundle the Ask toolbar just so they can make money.

AVG is way better then avast by far! and zonealarm is fairly nice but not the best but better then comodo
