Best virus removal tools? Best Antivirus?

I'd like to know what the best virus/malware/trojan/worm/spyware/whatev... removal is.

Also I'd like to know what the best anti-virus is. I'm not in the market for ONLY free programs. I'm just in the market for the best hands down.

Is the scan and removal seperate from the anitvirus? that's fine.. I'm not lazy.

Also any advise as far as firewalls go would be nice too! I really want to get my computer locked down and safe.

Kaspersky is not very good... it misses a lot of viruses!
