I am trying to download a free 90 day trial of Norton Antivirus 2006 from their website, and when I click ''download trialware'', a security warning pops up asking if I want to run or save the file. The name is too long for me to see all of, but what I can see says ''...2006_12%26#123;3%26#125;.2_Build_13_EN_OEM60_Micro... It's from ''spftrl.digitalriver.com''. I am paranoid of doing something to screw up my family's computer. I even searched yahoo to get more information on ''spftrl.digitalriver.com''. It brought up ''http://spftrl.digitalriver.com/pub/syma... which is a site advertising porn... This alarmed me even more, therefore I am now seeking advice on whether or not the previously mentioned file is safe or if this is the normal process of downloading Norton Antivirus trialware. Please help!
What is spftrl.digitalriver.com?kawasaki
The company known as Digital River is perfectly legitimate and works with many other companies to help them optimize online sales with reduced costs. Symantec uses their services.
But that's not to say some spyware or virus isn't using a similar name trying to infect someone's computer. If you have any doubts about the authenticity of the free 90 day download, you can always contact the Norton/Symantec customer service at this link:
